I would suggest not assigning very junior authors such as undergraduate students who may not qualify
as reviewers. 2. Is it possible to make it easier for a reviewer or AE to decline an assignment? When
I worked as AE, I received multiple assignments that were outside of my expertise and I also received
messages from reviewers complaining that they received assignments outside of their expertise in multiple
rounds. Hopefully, improving the profile and paper matching system would alleviate this problem. "
